Spa Hot Tub Decks
Alluring Spa AreasDeck & Patio Designs
Most people find the idea of a hot tub or spa plopped onto a deck or patio to be a little stark. Besides, patios (unlike spas) are supposed to slope; decks need extra support to properly handle the weight of a spa; and most spas are for fun, relaxing and entertaining. A good spa belongs in a nice spa area.
The water will be hot and bubbly anywhere; so it only makes sense to carefully design the spa deck or patio area for privacy and view, structural requirements and traffic flow. If the area looks like a natural part of the deck or patio and is big enough for the spa, its cover and you (plus your family and friends,) you will be drawn to it. You will also have a nice view.
Your situation will have its own best way to create an alluring spa area. Multi-level decks and patios can be very appealing. Privacy screening can simultaneously add interest, look nice and be effective. Arbors and pergolas often enhance, define and accent spa areas. Benches, fountains, pots, planters, hanging plants and planting bed areas provide some finishing touches. A little low voltage atmosphere lighting makes a big difference. The real trick is to make the spa area itself appealing and functional without undue visual clutter while blending seamlessly with the surrounding areas.
